Business Spotlight: Kitsbow

Did you know that we have some of the top cycling clothing made right here in our backyard?

Kitsbow in Old Fort hand makes every item to order in their Old Fort, NC facility.  We had the opportunity to tour the factory and all I can say is WOW!  It’s impressive to see the process first hand really helps you to see the workmanship and love that goes into every item.

Their focus on lean manufacturing which means reducing waste (among other things) and protecting the environment is one of their top priorities and is evident with the amount of waste they create during the process. It is almost non-existent even the packaging is 100% compostable!

If you’re not a cyclist, there are still lots of reasons to stop in Kitsbow at the Old Fort Ride House

The ICON shirt was one of my favorites and is perfect to keep you warm this winter, comfortable at an upscale bistro or out on your back porch on a moonlit night.

They offer pastries from a few local places including Four Sisters Bakery and Coffee made to order by the happiest barista I have met. She also handmakes all the syrups used in the store. The Vanilla was especially yummy.

Inside Kitsbow you will find the Old Fort Bike Shop and Chad Schoenauer the owner.

Not only is he a PMBA Level 1 bike mechanic who has spent decades honing his skills to ensure your bike is running smoothly. In addition to being a great mechanic, he custom-built the bike in the photo below. It was so light that I was able to lift it with one hand!  Talk about an engineering masterpiece.
