Opening Soon in Black Mountain, NC | The Pure and Proper
Richard and Heidi King along with partners Jake and Ali Whitman are soon to launch Black Mountain’s newest Restaurant, appropriately named the Pure and Proper, located in the Black Mountain Downtown Historic District.
The location; A former Pure Oil station, with its classic pitched roof circa 1940 had been sitting empty for years, falling into a state of an unknown future, continuing to decay. Richard and Heidi King had been eyeing the building for years, but when the Kings bought this building last summer, they had no idea what plans were in store for them. But one thing is certain: The new owners are committed to preserving history and keeping an important landmark alive!
As the team brainstormed what to do with the building, two unique concepts kept coming to mind and eventually collided together forming The Pure and Proper as we will come to know. Breakfast eatery with Coffee and Belgian Street Waffles in the morning and the perfect place for a proper date night too. Playing off the name of the building original Pure Oil Change and the concept of having a place for a Proper date night the name just came together representing both concepts along with an ode to the building’s past.
The team has been hard at work with the design and renovation of the building and made every decision thoughtfully and carefully down to each detail. Even something like the roof that needed to be replaced. They knew it had to be something authentic, not just your standard affair. Heidi found the unique and amazing decorative shingle designs that seem like they were made specifically for this historic beauty! The doors, the trim color, and the vintage lantern post out front add special details to honor the days gone by and welcome guests to the new vision.
The Pure and Proper will be an all-day eatery serving a breakfast, lunch and dinner. We already mentioned the amazing Belgian street waffles, but there will be so much more.
