For a more challenging hike, venture to the Lookout Trail in nearby Montreat, rewarding you with panoramic vistas of the Seven Sisters Mountain range

Cultural Highlights

On April 11th, immerse yourself in “The Dark City Speaks,” an evening of poetry at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts. This event, in collaboration with the Dark City Poets Society, promises a night of evocative performances

CODA Music Festival

On April 12th The event will feature live music from various bluegrass, country, and folk artists, with IBMA nominees Darin & Brooke Aldridge headlining. This year, CODA will host local vendors, and all proceeds from the festival will support artists impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Art enthusiasts will appreciate the vibrant local scene. Visit the Red House Studios and Art Gallery, Black Mountain Center for the Arts or the local Art Shoppes to admire works by local and regional artist.

From June 19–22, experience the 19th Annual Art in Bloom festival at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts. This multifaceted event, celebrating nature and art, combines two gallery exhibits, live floral arrangements, and a local garden tour featuring working artists.

Family-Friendly Activities

For a fun family outing, visit the Swannanoa Valley Museum to delve into the region’s rich history.  Interactive exhibits and educational programs make it an engaging experience for all ages.

Old Fort Trains and Trails Festival
