The Loott House is a local chef and family-owned restaurant located between Black Mountain, NC and Asheville in Swannanoa. The friendly, casual atmosphere and chef curated menu keep us coming back.
Some of our go-to favorites on the menu are the Brussel sprouts, the Brussel sprouts (yes, they are that good), Loott House burger, fried bologna sandwich and the catfish!
They also have a new spring menu coming out soon, not sure what will make the final cut but we had the pleasure of attending the menu preview tasting along with some Asheville A list food reviewers Asheville Multicultural , Stu Helm the Food Fan , and The Urban Gastronome.. You know the food is something special when you get that kind of attention. Our must haves from the tasting menu are the:
- Chipotle Apricot Wings featuring a house-made apricot BBQ wing sauce
- Crispy Brussel Sprouts that keep your interest all the way thru. Think layers of surprise flavors with pistachio crumble, parmesan vinaigrette, garlic, aioli, pickled onions!!
- Pear Grilled Cheese with a walnut- Havarti smoked cheddar spread and Lusty Munk mustard.
- Philly Cheesesteak with jalapeno beer cheese, mushrooms, onions, peppers and a garlic mayo
If you haven’t been in yet, you are missing out. But don’t take our word for it, go out and try it for yourself this week.

“You need to eat this folks…all of it! Sandwiches with rosemary ham and tomato jam aioli to chipotle apricot BBQ sauce on the wings. A two patty burger that will stand up to anybody…catfish hoagie with housemade remulaud (fried, grilled or blackened) And the pièce de résistance…crispy brussel sprouts with herbed aioli, pistachio crumble, parmesan vinaigrette and pickled onions.

“Absolutely wonderful meal. The collard green melt with pimento cheese was so good that we were discussing how to recreate it on our own as we devoured it. The waffle fries, hot wings, and Caesar salad (with real anchovies!) were equally delicious. Craft beer on tap and friendly and fast service were icing on the cake. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.”
