Their stewardship is a natural continuation of decades of dedicated apprenticeship with master musicians from around the world. Duende Libre’s empathic on-stage chemistry, formed through years of performing, touring, and recording together, sets the band apart along with their eclectic sonic palette. “Each member’s experiences are vital as they filter West African traditional rhythms through their own hands, voices, minds, bodies, each song as much choreography as a composition,” PopMatters wrote. “Hopeful in sound as well as in ideological foundation [the band creates music] full of heart and historical multitudes.”

Deer Tick with TwainnPisgah Brewing Company Outdoor StagenThursday, August 7 2025nINFO: https://www.pisgahbrewing.com/event/deer-tick-pisgah/nnEmotional Contracts, the latest full-length album from Deer Tick, catalogs all the existential casualties that accompany the passing of time, instilling each song with the irresistibly reckless spirit that’s defined the band for nearly two decades. Before heading into the studio with producer Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Spoon, Sleater-Kinney), the Providence-bred four-piece spent months working on demos in a perpetually flooded warehouse space in their hometown, enduring the busted heating system and massive holes in the roof as they carved out the album’s 10 raggedly eloquent tracks. Emotional Contracts fully echoes the unruly energy of its creation, ultimately making for a heavy-hearted yet wildly life-affirming portrait of growing older without losing heart.nnTwain:nn“There is nothing remarkable about my life that is necessary to know in order to appreciate the songs,” says Matthew Davidson of Twain. He describes the project as “a modern folk-opera of indefinite length consisting of songs and images from my life, a self-caricature of the musician and writer Matthew Davidson.”nnTwain made his label debut with Rare Feeling in 2017. The album was aptly hailed by NPR as “at once human and otherworldly,” by Consequence of Sound as “devastating, delicate, meditative,” and by Uproxx as “cosmic folk, bright and sparkling, but with all the caterwauling and rough bits that the most stoic traditionalist might desire.”nnFollowing the beloved release, Twain played Newport Folk Festival and toured alongside artists including Buck Meek, Langhorne Slim, and Courtney Marie Andrews. Davidson is a former member of The Low Anthem and Spirit Family Reunion and a contributor to Big Thief, whose latest album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You features Davidson’s distinct contributions on six songs.nnnhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1387448205580157/
